Hi guys, it’s me. I’m back (hopefully for real this time :/).
If you’re interested in what caused the long absence, it was a combination of a few things. University was exhausting me, I just had no motivation to work on anything that wasn’t marked, and honestly I was getting pretty sick of Diana’s generation (politics has never really interested me, so I find it really hard to get inside her head and find motivation to write at the part of the story we’re up to). Half the time I know where I want the story to go, but I don’t know how to get it there, so I find myself writing lazy filler nonsense that doesn’t really make sense (at least to me). Maybe it doesn’t come across as a reader, I don’t know. But it sure takes a toll on being confident in my writing abilities.
Lately, I’ve been really missing sims a lot, and I feel bad that I’ve left you guys hanging for so long (assuming anyone out there still cares what I’m writing and hasn’t just given this blog up as a lost cause). I keep coming up with new story ideas but I promised myself I’d finish this one or at least get it back on track before I started anything new. The current plan is to backlog a few chapters that I can just release for the next few weeks so that I have a bit more time while I try to get myself back on track writing new ones. Hopefully with this new motivation I should be able to get back into the swing of things while still keeping up with my uni work.
From personal experience, I know that even if as the writer it might be easy to remember the rest of the story previously, as a reader, when a story has been inactive for this long, it’s very difficult to get back into it without getting confused and having to reread the whole thing to make sense of new content. So, with that in mind, given that it’s been so long, I’m going to release a kind of catch-up chapter summarising everything that’s happened so far this generation so that you can just read it to catch yourself up. That will happen probably some time tomorrow, and then the first new chapter will be released the next day.
Thank you all for your encouragement while I’ve been trying to get back on my feet. Here’s to a new era of productivity!
